Picture a monastery, more than 600 years old, once home to 70 monks, and set in peaceful, isolated wooded countryside some 70 miles south of Rome.
Built almost entirely of stone, the corridors echo to the sound of your footsteps, until you stop – and the silence is only just broken by the trickle of the gentle fountain in the main square. Or the chimes of the cracked church bell each quarter.
Into this oasis of calm we are bringing a festival of music, but with a difference.
Whilst there will still be fine performance of the classics by the finest of musicians, we will be striving to encourage as many of the audience as possible to stay during the day, for:
- Masterclasses – our best musicians will show you how they work and how they can help you.
- Hands on lectures to help bring good music alive – listen, watch and play!
- Choral singing – folk, children and classical, lead by experienced conductors and guaranteed to bring out the best in you! You never knew you had it in you.
- Free instrument on arrival – prizes at end of festival for the best improvement, either as soloist or in group.
In all, 4 days of taking part, listening – and sometimes, just listening to the silence.
